Soldiers' Post-War Experiences

Picture
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's
triggered by a terrifying event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares
and  severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

Many people who go through traumatic events have difficulty adjusting and
coping for a while. But with time and taking care of yourself, such traumatic
reactions usually get better. In some cases, though, the symptoms can get worse
or last for months or even years. Sometimes they may completely shake up your
life. In a case such as this, you may have post-traumatic stress disorder.

The effects of the war are not only seen in the veteran themselves but also in the people that they love. PTSD is seen in a veteran but the pain and sorrow that is evoked from the people they love can bring the disease of depression.

For Example: A man Richard Hoffman was 18 years old when he was deployed to the Vietnam in 1967.The young Marine Cpl. was wounded by a grenade after only a few months and returned to the states to recover. He didn't realize it then, but he suffered the classic symptoms of Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder. Only after a violent outburst at his home in 1984 did he finally seek help.

This video examplifies how PTSD in veterans deal with it in there everyday life. You cant get through it with out support and this veteran had just that. Although it was tough and he had to put alot of work into getting better; he did it. This video is very sentimental and it briefly descibes the emotion that comes with PTSD.
